How to use eBay out-of-stock option

Modified on Wed, 13 Dec, 2023 at 4:02 PM

Running out of quantity on eBay leads to the listing being stopped and lost its sales history. The seller in turn needs to relist the item when inventory is refilled.

By enabling the out-of-stock option you can be sure your listing stays active but hidden from search results whenever its quantity reaches zero.

This means that instead of stopping the listing and creating a new one when inventory arrives, you can temporarily make it unavailable for buyers. With the help of the out-of-stock option, hidden listings save their sales history.

 Note

Please keep in mind that eBay charges you insertion fees even if the listing is temporarily hidden from buyers.

 Tip

With the help of the out-of-stock option, hidden listings save their sales history.

 Tip

In M2E Pro hidden product will obtain Listed (Hidden) status.

When you update inventory, run automatic or manual Revise action in M2E Pro to make your product accessible under the same eBay item ID.

 Note

If you try to Revise an item with zero QTY and out-of-stock option disabled, you will get an eBay error ‘The quantity must be a valid number greater than 0’.

You can enable the out-of-stock option in your eBay Seller Center only. Follow these steps to do it:

  1. Go to Selling preferences;
  2. Move to the Multi-quantity listings section;
  3. Select toggle next to Listings stay active when you're out of stock.

 Note

Once enabled, all of your existing and future Good 'Til Canceled listings will use the out-of-stock option until you disable it.
