How to test M2E Pro on Magento 2

Modified on Thu, 23 Feb 2023 at 09:51 AM

M2E Pro allows managing product data automatically with minimal actions from your side.

If you are new to M2E Pro, you can test it manually first. For this, we advise pausing the auto-sync settings so they do not affect your live listings and orders.

Disable automatic Magento order creation

Automatic import of Channel orders is the basic task of M2E Pro, it cannot be disabled. However, you can set the Module not to create Magento orders for them automatically.

For this, under eBay/Amazon/Walmart Integration > Configuration > Accounts > Orders set Create order in Magento to No for both Products listed by M2E Pro and Products listed by any other software.

 Note

If you have several Channel accounts linked to M2E Pro, make sure to disable Create order in Magento option for each of them.

Disable automatic stock synchronization

Under eBay/Amazon/Walmart Integration > Configuration > Settings > Synchronizationset M2E Pro Listings Synchronization to No

This way your Channel items will not be automatically updated according to the Synchronization Policy rules. You will be able to apply them to your items manually while testing.

Disable the import of existing Channel items

You can disable the automatic import of your existing Channel products if you do not need them in M2E Pro.

Under eBay/Amazon/Walmart Integration > Configuration > Accounts > Unmanaged Listings, set Import Unmanaged Listings to No.

 Tip

This step is optional. M2E Pro does not manage Items imported from the Channel unless you link them to the respective Magento products and move them to the M2E Pro Listing.

Now you can proceed with testing.

 Note

If you have M2E Pro on both live and test Magento instances, we recommend using different Channel accounts while testing to avoid double synchronization.

Test order processing

Prior to testing an order creation in M2E Pro, the item needs to be purchased on Channel.

Log in to eBay/Amazon/Walmart under another account to place the order or use your existing imported sales. You can find them under eBay/Amazon/Walmart Integration > Sales > Orders in M2E Pro.

Inside the order, you can view the detailed info on it: billing and shipping addresses, logs, etc. Since automatic order creation was disabled, you can initiate Magento order creation manually by clicking Create order.

Test Listing management

You can create an M2E Pro Listing and add some test products under eBay/Amazon/Walmart > Listings > Add Listing.

 Tip

The process of Listing creation is quite similar for all the Integrations, however, has minor differences. Use these step-by-step guides for eBay / Amazon / Walmart.

 Tip

Also, check our guides on how to add products to eBay / Amazon / Walmart Listings.

When all is set for the Listing, you can try applying List, Relist, Revise, and Stop actions to products to test how they will update on the Channel:

  • List Item(s) – use to submit a non-listed product to Channel.
  • Revise Item(s) – use to fully update Listed product on Channel.
  • Relist Item(s) – use to submit a previously Inactive product to Channel.
  • Stop Item(s) on Channel – use to stop a product on Channel.
  • Stop on Channel / Remove from Listing –  use to stop a product on Channel and remove it from M2E Pro Listing.

 Tip

When finish testing M2E Pro you can remove the product from Channel if necessary.

When you are done with testing and ready to use M2E Pro, enable

  • Automatic Magento order creation under eBay/Amazon/Walmart Integration > Configuration > Accounts > Orders
  • Inventory Synchronization under eBay/Amazon/Walmart Integration > Configuration > Settings > Synchronization

Also, for smooth automatic synchronization, check your Synchronization policies are configured correctly.
