How to sell battery and dangerous goods as an FBA item

Modified on Tue, 16 Mar, 2021 at 12:45 PM

Any dangerous goods sold on Amazon must have a complete and correct product description. It is also one of the major requirements for the items fulfilled by Amazon (FBA). The Marketplace reviews product information to classify your product accordingly.

If you match your product to the existing ASIN that already has information about hazardous materials, there is no need to submit your own description. This product can be switched to the Amazon Fulfilment (AFN) mode at any time.

However, if you create a new ASIN and want to sell it via Amazon fulfillment nets, you should provide complete hazmat characteristics before converting the item to the AFN mode. Otherwise, an error will be returned by Amazon.

To provide a battery and dangerous goods information via M2E Pro:

  • Navigate Amazon > Configuration > Policies > Description Policy.
  • Under the Specifics tab, add the required specifics, e.g. battery composition, their number, product flammability, etc.
  • Ensure that the product specifics are updated on Amazon. The product description will be updated automatically if the Details option is enabled in your Revise Rules. Alternatively, you can apply a manual revise to your product.
  • Navigate Amazon > Listings to switch the item to the AFN mode.

 Tip

Read the Item Specifics guide for the Extension on Magento v1 or Magento v2.
