The primary function of a Magento Store View is to translate information and configure currency. However, when you’re using the M2E Pro solution, a Store View is a much more multifunctional tool.
Let’s take a look.
M2E Pro and Magento Store View
Each Magento installation has a hierarchical structure. One installation can have multiple websites. A website may contain several stores and each store may have many store views.
While it’s easy to understand the need for multiple websites and stores, sellers sometimes underestimate the role of using multiple Magento Store Views, especially if you’re an M2E Pro user.
A Store View is one of the main sources of all the data M2E Pro sends to Channels. Having multiple Store Views, a seller gets much more ways to customize product information for different marketplaces and manage orders more effectively.
Store Views for flexible product information
When you create an M2E Pro Listing, there are two main options you’re required to choose at the first step – a marketplace and Magento Store View.
Marketplace is where M2E Pro will list the products. Magento Store View is where M2E Pro will take information about products from.
If you remember it, there will be no problem for you to figure out how to customize product info across Channel marketplaces using M2E Pro Listings and multiple Store Views.
So, how to make your product information vary on different marketplaces? Here are the basic steps you need to follow:
Step 1. Create a new Store View
- Go to Stores>Settings>All Stores.
- Click Create a Store View.
- Choose a website you want to use and fill in the required info.
Skip Step 1, if you already have multiple Store Views for a website.
Step 2. Customize the attributes of a Magento product
- Go to Catalog>Products and choose a product you want to customize.
- In the top left corner, you can switch between Store View. Choose a newly added Store View.
- Now you can edit the product attributes, you want to vary on marketplaces. Product name attribute, for example
Step 3. Create an M2E Pro Listing with a new Store View
- Go to Channel>M2E Pro Listings and click Add Listing.
- Choose a marketplace and a new Store View.
- Add a product\products you’ve customized.
- List products.
After products are listed, you’ll see that the product information is different from the product info on another marketplace you’ve listed the product using default Store View.
Let’s take a look at several examples.
Case #1. Customize product information for multiple marketplaces
We want to list our Magento products on five different eBay marketplaces. It’s essential to have different titles, descriptions, and tax classes depending on the marketplace.
Go to Stores>Settings>All Stores and make sure to create five separate Store Views. It may help if you name them after the marketplaces you’re going to use.
Go to the Magento Product page and customize Title, Description, and Tax Class attributes for products you plan to list.
Go to eBay>M2E Pro Listings and create five separate M2E Pro listings. One M2E Pro Listing per marketplace.
Choose an appropriate Store View for the Listing.
Add products you’ve customized.
Save Listings and list products on marketplaces.
That’s it! The title, Description, and Tax Class of the products vary depending on the marketplace.
Case #2 Customize product information only on one of the marketplaces
We have a product listed on Japanese and US Amazon marketplaces. We want to change its title and description only for the Japanese marketplace.
Go to the Magento product page.
In the top left corner, switch to an appropriate Store View. If you don’t have a Store View other than the default, create a new one.
Check if the Title and Description attributes of a product have a scope Store View and enter new values. Save the changes.
Go to Amazon>M2E Pro Listings. You will need to create M2E Pro Listing for the Japanese marketplace and choose the appropriate Magento Store View.
Add a product to the newly created M2E Pro Listing and list.
We’ve described several use cases, however, you can customize the product info in any way convenient to you.
Store Views for order management
The accuracy of order information is essential for effective order delivery and accounting processes.
When you choose to manage Channel orders via M2E Pro, the first thing you’re asked to select is a Magento Store View as a source of the information for order creation.
This way, having multiple Store Views per Website gives a seller great flexibility in order management. Let’s see several cases.
Invoices&Shipment
M2E Pro allows you to manage and upload invoices directly to Amazon.
If you have several Magento stores with different shipping and accounting details and you need invoices with other info, it’s easily managed.
As order management preferences are configured per Amazon account, you’ll only just need to have a second Amazon account and choose a separate Store View per store.
Example:
Account#1 set-up
Account#2 set-up
Same works for shipment creation. You just need to enable the option to automatically create shipment for the Magento order when the associated order on Channel is shipped.
FBA orders
If you’re enrolled in the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program, M2E Pro helps you to manage FBA orders. For that, enable a dedicated option to create Magento orders for corresponding FBA ones.
If necessary, select Create in a separate Store View option and M2E Pro will keep Magento Orders created for Amazon-fulfilled ones separately.
